Projects

Croatia

We have taken over 100 Aid trips to Croatia. We support many Orphanages and Children Cancer Hospitals in Croatia. Many times I have walked around the Children’s Cancer Ward where we were met by the Consultant Professor in charge of the Oncology Department. He would show us around the ward and explained that children were sent to his department from all over Croatia and Bosnia for treatments for all types of cancer. The ages ranged from babies to children of 16. We always take medication for the unit - i.e. pain-killers, antibiotics etc. The problems come from the economic situation caused by the war. Many times the Consultant Professor had to treat the children without the proper cancer medication as even getting pain-killers was a problem.

Sri Lanka

The unrest in Sri Lanka, especially the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka, has slightly hampered our visits as we are a non-political, non sectarian organisation, solely working to alleviate poverty and suffering among children. We have decided to postpone any visits to Sri Lanka, as our volunteers will be exposed to dangers while proving support and help to the suffering children. This does not mean that we are not helping – but we are feeding over two thousand children in Sri Lanka. We are committed to provide help and support to the little ones who are going through physiological and psychological traumas.

The dairy cattle project, which was formally opened in April 2006, currently provides a milk yield of 25 litres per day providing both milk and yoghurt for 80 children as well as the carers of the home. The milk yield is expected to increase by 5 litres per day, creating a surplus. The surplus milk will be sold to the local villagers to generate income towards the veterinary and feeding expenses.

Our project for 2008 is to save 'unborn' girls in India.
